Those are some pretty nice balloon animals, Blackstone! The only balloon animals I can do are a snake, a worm, and an eel . I really like that turtle.

What kind of dog are you, Patricia?

Hi, Pactricia! I'm Joshua Reynard, a red fox. Welcome to Christan Furs!

Welcome, Angel! The name's Joshua Reynard, the red fox. Pleaded to meet you! I'm certainly glad you ended up here. This is a great community for furries who love Jesus and want a place where they can fellowship with other furries who love Jesus too. I'm going to second what Zvoc47 said - you're adorable!

Healthy alternative for screens?
Joshua Reynard replied to SuperKuddlor's topic in Computers and Gadgets
That depends on what kind of device you want to build. You might be able to build an IRC client with one of those and an Arduino. But you're probably not going to get too far in terms of graphics. Pixel art (like the original Game Boy) would be doable, but that's probably the upper limit of what you can get. I don't know if there are any monochrome LCDs that come close to the resolution of your typical LCD monitor. I would also recommend looking into e-paper. It was popular with e-readers before they became indistinguishable from regular tablets. I found an old e-reader at a tag sale once for $1 - its battery was busted, but I can still use it if it's plugged into a USB charger. It has an e-paper display and a smaller LCD for touch-screen controls. You might be able to find something similar because the technology is several years old at this point. E-paper is easy on the eyes because it looks like regular paper. Another advantage of e-paper is that the display can hold an image for days or even weeks without even being powered at all. The main disadvantage is that it's currently monochromatic and not capable of good framerates (so no gaming on it). -
Healthy alternative for screens?
Joshua Reynard replied to SuperKuddlor's topic in Computers and Gadgets
There are computer glasses out there that supposedly reduce eye strain, but they aren't cheap. There are also programs like f.lux that adjust your computer display's brightness and color according to the time of day. I think that similar apps exist for smartphones and tablets. I know there is aalso a program out there that gives your screen an amber tint, which supposedly reduces eye strain by filtering out blue light. Not sure if it's f.lux or another program, though. As for alternatives to screens, I'm partial to good old-fashioned pencil and paper. It doesn't have an undo button, but erasers are usually close enough. :-P -

There was another one on here before my time - Carter Cat-Fox. But I don't think he's been on since 2013 -

Welcome to the forums! The name's Joshua Reynard, and I'm one of many red foxes in the furry fandom. Like you, I quietly observed the forum for months before posting anything. I guess I just wanted to check out what kind of forum it was and what it was like here. But I liked what I saw, so I joined in last summer. It's been great. So, like I said before, welcome! I hope you enjoy your time here. *Offers paw to shake.* -
Hmm... I see lots of guitars on here... *Wonders if he should walk out of the thread as a keyboardist.* Naw. I'm posting in here. What I've got right now is an Alesis QX49 MIDI controller connected to a laptop running Sonar Home Studio 7. On there, I have several VST softsynths run through VST effects. As for hardware, I've got two Korg Monotrons (the original and a Monotron Duo), a Gakken SX-150 Mark II, a Boss DR-550 drum machine, and an E-mu Proteus 1 (http://www.vintagesynth.com/emu/proteus.php), not to mention two or three cheap preset keyboards. I also have a few guitar pedals - a Digitech DF-7 Distortion Factory, a Digitech Bass Chorus, and an Ibanez EC-30 Elephant Compressor - and a Gemini seven-band equalizer made for stereo setups. And I also have a Casio Privia digital piano (which doubles as a MIDI controller) and an electric bass that I built myself. Many of these things were purchased second-hand and/or on sale. The only things that weren't either used or on sale were the laptop, the Casio, the MIDI controller, and the original Monotron. I also have two acoustic pianos (neither of which are in tune), a few toy flutes, a hand drum, a harmonica, and a couple of tape decks (which will eventually used for getting that "analog tape sound" by recording master tracks onto cassette tape and recording them back into the computer).

Hello, Yogi! The name's Joshua Reynard, and I'm a red fox. Nice to meet you! Original Yogi is best Yogi. (The recent movie about him was a travesty.) I'm with you, man (bear?). I'm a logical Christian in an Evangelical church, but I don't identify as a member of any one denomination for that very reason. I also like to hike and bike. And I've got a collection of antiques, including lots of bottles and a few insulators. That's why I'm a fox - because I find that my mentality is similar to that of an actual fox. I'm always willing to talk in PM. I'm also active on the ChristanFurs IRC channel. *Offers you more goodies.* There's plenty to go around.

Well, I do make a fair amount of bad puns...I'm a huge fan of foxes (obviously) - they're beautiful and intelligent and don't often get the respect they deserve. *gets on all fours and tugs Sunny's hand*

Then you may be interested in Secret Maryo Chronicles. It's free and open-source, and it's pretty good. You don't even need a Wii U for it - it's a PC game. Check it out here: http://www.secretmaryo.org/

Eunno Heywood reporting in!
Joshua Reynard replied to EunnoHeywood's topic in New member introductions
Welcome to Christian Furs, Eunno! I'm Joshua Reynard, and I'm always happy to meet another fox. I'm also a musician, but I play keyboards. I want to learn guitar, but I haven't gotten around to it. You say you like "do-it-yourself projects". What kind of projects? I'm into that sort of stuff myself, but I mainly focus on electronics projects. -
*Walks in* Welcome, Byakko! Pleased to meet you! *Offers paw to shake*

Nice to meet you, R2! Welcome to the forums. I can't say I've ever seen a literal packrat as a fursona before - I'm a packrat, but only in the metaphorical sense ;-).

Nice "photo"manipulation, Rygeku. Here's the original, for anyone who's curious: http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/236/421/1600/Jesus2.jpg. It's by XianJaguar.

Favorite music genres and artists... I have too many to really list, and I'm always finding new ones. It's much easier to list genres I don't like. I don't like modern country, most rap/hip-hop, some EDM (some of it is actually good), most post-grunge (Nickleback, for example), and some folk or soft alternative music (some of it is pretty boring). As for stuff I do like... My favorites pretty much span the history of music. I really love ragtime music. In case you've never heard of it, it is a form of piano music with a syncopated right hand part and a "marching" beat in the left hand. Some examples of it: "Maple Leaf Rag" by Scott Joplin, "Dill Pickles Rag" by Charles L. Johnson, and "Soda Fountain Rag" by Duke Ellington. In the 1920s, ragtime evolved into two styles: stride piano (an early form of jazz) and novelty piano (influenced by French Impressionist music). Some examples of the former are "Carolina Shout" by James P. Johnson and "A Handful of Keys" by Fats Waller, and of the latter, "Pianoflage" by Roy Bargy and "Kitten on the Keys" by Zez Confrey. I also love jazz from that era through the swing era. Some of my favorite big-band musicians are Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller. I really like most "oldies" music (1950s-60s). There were some truly great songwriters and singers back then. I'm a fan of the Beach Boys (no, seriously - they had some really great songs that weren't about cars or surfing). I like progressive rock - my favorites are Pink Floyd and Genesis. 80s new wave/synthpop is one of my favorite kinds of music. Examples: The Cars, Howard Jones, Duran Duran. As for more modern music, I like chillwave (e.g. Washed Out, Neon Indian) and its recent evolution, vaporwave. Yes, it's a long list, and it's only a small sampling of what I'm into. And as new genres of music develop, it'll only get longer .
