A lot of things just happened. Q: Why were we down for... a while... A: As it turns out, our backup system was not functioning correctly, and it took a while to figure out how to get past that... unfortunately it took so long that were weren't able to ask our host for a higher level backup... Q: Hold up, what happened to the last 3 years of posts? A: Well... The backups stopped right before the database that holds all of the forum threads. SO the last clean backup we have of that is from 2015... BUT all of the user accounts and PMs should be current... I hope. Q: Wait aren't you a computer guy? Shouldn't you know better? A: I'm also a terrible person and very lazy Q: Everything looks so different! What happened? A: Well... part of why we were dealing with backups to begin with. Newly updated forum software! There was also a server outage, so I don't know if people were even able to log in today to say Merry Chirstmas.

Having it repaired will also mean you can sell it for a bit more if you decide to go that route.

Repair people don't care. If it's still under warranty and they'll fix it for free, go for it. If you're worried that you'll use it for sinful things, put it away in a drawer or something when it comes back until you've sorted out your other issues.

Such things require research. As for Cubot, basically they're the people that make the phones for bigger brands, and they're releasing their own designs... as a result, you just kinda need to hunt around on ebay for their devices...

Honestly dude, your best bet might be looking into those special glasses. By "expensive" we mean like $50 for a pair of basically sunglasses that specifically block blue. Option 1 (an off brand maybe?) Option 2 (the name brand) Or I wonder if an OLED screen would be a better option, but those are going to be extremely expensive for a few years yet. What you're saying there is a lot to ask of a little Arduino (AVR), even a Mega. The screen modules for them are generally monochrome character-only displays. You can get graphical displays, but the way they're made, the Arduino just sends commands to it, I don't think you can drive them directly. The Kindle Paperwhite uses an E-paper touchscreen

I've never seen issues like that in any graphics software, it sounds quite broken. I've never heard of Krita, but I know most digital artists seem to use PaintTool SAI or Photoshop, which both work nicely. I'm sure there's a way you can use GIMP with drawing tools (tablets and such) as well, but I don't know for sure. The minimal amount of drawing I've done has been in Sketchbook, which seems to work pretty well (and is free).

CamStudio works too and is free, FRAPS or Action! works a lot better in my experience (although nothing beats an AverMedia capture device). Anyway, pretty cool Zvoc47. You remind me a lot of birgirpall with your friend there. The editing and sound effects are good, but that mic is almost painful to listen to. Also seems like the game audio isn't being captured directly by Hypercam, which using FRAPS or Action! could fix since those programs are more flexible and can let you record your mic and the game audio at the same time.

It was down, the hosting company looked into it and fixed it. It's the second time it's happened in the last month, so the hosting company is looking into more serious issues on their end.

I'm going to see about moving things to another country before a shutdown. Canada is decidedly not a part of the TPP (and are very much against internet censorship in general) and moving services up north just a bit isn't a big deal (currently things are hosted in New York and Texas). I don't really want to disallow external linking because that's a pain in the butt. No one reads rules or alerts if it hits them in the face, and having the software automatically deal with it will result in a lot of "what happened to my link???" support messages. It would also mean disallowing avatars, which I feel is important for a furry forum. The laws crack down on copyright infringement. So unless those websites are infringing copyrights, then they won't be targeted. I know we won't be targeted per say, but I'd still rather operate in a legal grey area ("Everything's in Canada") rather than a we-can-be-dinged-but-probably-wont-be area.

If I'm interpreting this correctly, then if users (you) post something to the forums that's of questionable copyright (a picture that's not yours, a youtube video, music, etc.), or if you link to a page that has other links to questionable things, then CF could be taken down or fined for spreading that content.

I don't know if I can move stuff into another country maybe; but since I'm in the US I don't really know if that means this site needs to operate under US laws if the actual servers are in France or something.

If you haven't heard of the Trans Pacific Partnership, you should really go read up on it then call your local officials and complain about it. The vote to fast track it (TPA and the ability to bypass public vote) has already passed and the vote for TPP is happening today. The agreement was meant to be under wraps until after it had been in place for several years, but the full text has been leaked, and its not good. I do not get involved in politics, but this agreement puts the existence of CF at risk. If you don't already know, CF is something I do for fun, I pay all of the bills out of my own pocket and I make nothing on it. TPP brings on a lot of threats and consequences, including takedowns and hefty fines for users just linking to content that's of questionable copyright. A media company can charge a fine or order a take down for any reason, and you better belive that this is going to be abused. If the TPP passes and is not repealed, then the day it goes into affect is the day CF is going to have to close doors or figure out a way to keep copyrighted content off the site. I can't afford to pay fines, go to court, or any of that. I'm sorry. Im not going to link to some protest sign up or have you subscribe to some newsletter. What needs to happen is calls to state Representatives. You can find yours using Google. Find out who their secretaries are and bombard them too. This does not affect only the US! TPP spans several countries, so if you live outside of the US call your government officials too. TPP is bad for every website, not just CF. Don't read this as a "CF is closing" message though. I will be clear if that is the case! As far as I'm concerned, I recently renewed licenses for a couple pieces of software we use for another year, and I intend to use that license...

I mentioned it in another thread but I used to use PocketIRC on Windows Mobile, and it was fantastic. I've yet to find an equivalent on Android or iOS that was as easy and stable. Its in the welcome PM, it's on the top of every page... Do I need to make a flashing banner? Something that plays sound at full volume?
