Hello, from a conflicted new member

Recommended Posts

This is both an introduction and a bit of a plee for understanding or advice, I suppose.

I've always harbored an interest for furry art; I resent that it is often seen in a negative light. I think it a legitimate form of art, and indeed, requires a lot of talent to be drawn well. I myself am not artist but am rather more a fan of furry art. I'm also, of course, Christian and have been for much of my life. God is the most important part of my life, and I want to live my life for Him.

However, I've also always found myself drawn to homosexual thoughts. I am female, and cannot deny that I find other females attractive (physically and emotionally). I've struggled with this for so long; I know the Bible says homosexuality is an abomination, and yet I cannot escape that it is a part of me. I often feel that I lead a life of sin, that I'm surely seeing my own path to hell, and yet I truly am only happy with another woman; it feels natural, safe, right. I hope I'm not alienating anyone, it is not my intention. I am pray you can perhaps attempt to understand me, or at least offer me some advice. To be entirely honest, I do not see how I am hurting anyone... I'm not a bad person, I just feel like this is who I am.

Yet, there is still a part of me that wants to escape this, if only a small part. Yet the rest of me yearns for it and wants only to be able to accept myself, and to be accepted for who I am.

Welcome, welcome. Remember to reply to the PM that was sent to you.

You're not alone in the struggle, I've known many people facing the same decision. All I can say is keep on the good path and follow the Lord.

I'm really saddened to hear about your struggle.

I think the main things to remember are:

First- Feelings are feelings. A married man may find people other than his spouse attractive, and may well be very tempted by some individuals because of kindness or other factors, but it is how he reacts to these feelings that matters. If believe that giving in to the feelings would be wrong, then do your best to not focus on them.

Second- Sin does not send you to hell, but unforgiven sin. If you are a Christian, you struggle, but you are forgiven. Rejoice at that fact.

Third- If it really concerns you, speak with a counselor. There may be past issues at work in your life.

I'll pray for your peace.

I've sought counseling in the past. Yet, primarily I've been told that homosexuality is no longer seen as a mental illness within psychological practices (not to say I view myself as mentally ill) and that it is something I need to work to accept in myself because I cannot really change it. Yet if this is true, how can I find peace within myself and with God?

I hope I'm not being too negative, and I would like to thank you all for your kind words and acceptance.

Many psychiatrists still consider homosexuality as a mental illness' date=' however the label was lifted due to excessive protest.

I don't think it's a mental disease. It's simply a perversion. (no offense howling_wolf)

@ Wolfheart, I have a ton of information and evidence of psychiatric research that rules out the whole opinionated view of whether it's a mental illness or not, but we won't go there.

With the understanding that there is right and wrong, immorality and morality - all according to what the Bible says, of course, it makes this SO much easier knowing that you're a Christian.. But anyway..

About the whole being "born gay/homosexual/whatever"... The inference is that they are born that way, but if that's the case, then homosexuality cannot be considered immoral or unnatural; the homosexual is just following his or her genes. If the Bible is against homosexuality, then it cannot be natural, it has to be a choice or mentality; However, it being a mentality... by God's grace, it can be changed.

OP's post

Can't say I was not at that place one point and time in my life. I will say, anything can be achieved through prayer.

If you want someone to talk to, feel free to PM me. Although I don't know how much help I can be, since girls and guys are wired differently. Also, welcome :D

i believe this becuz a mind can be changed, fixed or destroyed by simple thoughts. in this case a homosexuality can be fixed by themselves to being straight, or at least for some people, just by mental thinking. for example i used to be independent, straight, really cared about my life, and not cared what anyone else thinked about me. but when certain things started to happen in life i became the exact opposite of all of those. of course, most of which has been repaired by now. thats kind of the only proof i have, is myself.

No there are people that probably think that also. But what I can't stand is the idea that homosexuality is genetic, it has no proof what so ever.

Welcome to Christian Furs!!

/me gives you a BIG hug!

I've actually dealt with the same issue in the past, and still do occasionally, but with God's help, we can do anything! :)

You're in my prayers, and if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm always willing to listen.

Homosexuality has been proven not genetic. You can even prove its not genetic Biblically.

Thank you!!! Now I have proof to show fellow Christians that it's not genetic Romans ch: 1 verse: 26-27

Romans is my favorite book to quote out of when it comes to homosexuality :)

Welcome to the forums! :3

Remember that it's falling into temptation that is sin, not being tempted. There are some people who have mental tendencies to go towards alcoholism, and I pray for those who struggle with that (or any tendencies/temptations), but it all boils down to whether or not we give in to our tendencies. I know this is very cliched, but remember: we aren't perfect, just forgiven :D. I will be praying for you! :)

Also, to everyone else, maybe we should consider continuing this discussion in a new thread, after all the point of this thread is to welcome our new member :P just a thought.
