Flechmen 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2009 Everything I Own - Bread I think this song has a good message. This is how we, as Christians, should look at our relationship with Christ.
Keijiei† 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2009 Robert Cohn was once middleweight boxing champion of Princeton. Do not think that I am very much impressed by that as a boxing title, but it meant a lot to Cohn. He cared nothing for boxing, in fact he disliked it, but he learned it painfully and thoroughly to counteract the feeling of inferiority and shyness he had felt on being treated as a Jew at Princeton. There was a cer- tain inner comfort in knowing he could knock down anybody who was snooty to him, although, being very shy and a thoroughly nice boy, he never fought except in the gym. He was Spider Kelly's star pupil. Spider Kelly taught all his young gentlemen to box like featherweights, no matter whether they weighed one hundred and five or two hundred and five pounds. But it seemed to fit Cohn. He was really very fast. He was so good that Spider promptly overmatched him and got his nose permanently flattened. This increased Cohn's distaste for boxing, but it gave him a cer- tain satisfaction of some strange sort, and it certainly improved his nose. In his last year at Princeton he read too much and took to wearing spectacles. I never met any one of his class who remem- bered him. They did not even remember that he was middle-weight boxing champion. -Ernest Hemingway in The Sun Also Rises.

DracoAzule† 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNCoih1G9_Q Tearing through these days I find the tolerance to strive and push on. I know what lies beyond this life for me is already won. No man can take away this blood that covers all of my faults. Without the blood of perfect life I know I'm nothing at all. So now I reign forever hallowed in eternity's hand. No man can shake me from the everlasting ground that I stand.

Keijiei† 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2009 (Note: mild language.) They carried him down the ladder and through the cloister and across the rock to the most precipitous cliff--the one over which the Ácoma women flung broken pots and such refuse as the turkeys would not eat. There the people were assembled. They cut his bonds, and taking him by the hands and feet, swung him out over the rock-edge and back a few times. He was heavy, and perhaps they thought this dangerous sport. No sound but hissing breath came through his teeth. The four executioners took him up again from the brink where they had laid him, and, after a few feints, dropped him in mid-air. -Willa Cather, Death Comes for the Archbishop The lyrics in this song are a little weaker than some of Celldweller's other stuff, but it's still easily one of his best creations.
