Wolvy, wheres that photo from? Dont think Ive seen it before and its really got my interest now.

'tis from my private stash of really cool photos. I've had it for years, but wouldn't doubt that it's floating around the internet somewhere. It's from the Snapper series of tests circa 1952, I think. Notice the Joshua trees at ground level & how the plasma followed the guy wires to the ground.

Welcome! ^^

/me bows in greeting

I got to use a Geiger counter once... and discovered that orange plates from the 50s or 60s are radioactive. O.o There are also nuclear power plant simulators to play around with: http://esa21.kennesaw.edu/activities/nukeenergy/nuke.htm (I haven't tried this one, the one I messed with I can't find no more...)

Thanks Wolvy, have to look into that when I get some free time.

Now plates of all things is something I would of never expected to be radioactive, I wonder how that happened?

And thank you for that link to the reactor simulator. Thanks to it I now know I should avoid a career in nuclear energy for a while, because it seems I get a little too excited and end up causing a meltdown.

As I understand it, they actually used uranium to get the orange colouring in the plates... (O.o)
