Epic battles of strategy

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about this for the beginning of a boook..

--------------------------------

The king sat with a map before him, the head officer of his army observing as well. For what seemed like days they stared, plotting, planning.

The enemy fortress was a long ways off, but they had to take it down. Scouting parties found their weakest points and had reported back.

The greatest fear: they knew scouts form the other side had been there too...

The plan of attack was quick and direct. The armies were made up of massive hordes of highly trained crossbowmen.

They had spent many years preparing, what seemed like centuries, and were to leave today at the king's command.

When it came time, all were assembled. Wives and children waved farewell to the heavily armored soldiers, ready to march.

And march they did, through the twisting forest, through the vast unknowns, through lands only dreamed of.

It seemed like weeks when they finally came, but when they did, they were thirsty for blood and ready for war.

Over the enemy territory, it seemed like it was raining arrows! People, livestock, and military fell under the sheer power of wood and steel falling from the sky.

Archers lined the windows of the great castle, but they fell quickly under the barage. The arrows seemed to dismantle the very castle its self!

The king barged in with the help of a battering ram, walked up to the great enemy leader.

"Your reign of terror has ended! You will surrender now or die"

The leader stood, his robes gracing the ground below him as he smiled his evil, crooked smile.

"Then, I choose death"

A group of crossbowmen filed into the room, took aim, and gave the leader his choice.

"Destroy everything!" was the command from the king, and by the end of the day, not a building was standing, not even a peasant was living.

The military leader came up to the king after the great battle. A great many lives had been lost on both sides...

"Your highness, you now have a level 30 home city"

The king smiled, and started laughing, for indeed he was victorious!

-------------------

"Honey, are you playing that game again?"

"Huh? wha? Oh, no dear..."

Age of Empires if you didn't get the reference :P

This is just a quick thought, if I were to use it for a book I would flesh it out a lot more.
