Video Camera

I guess this can just be a thread about video camera help in general. so here is my problem...

 

I just got this new flipcam and went to upload the footage to my computer with the built in USB thing. It sees the camera and loads the software for it but seems to error and not get the video to the computer. It is an Ultra Flip Video camera like these cameras here. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

 

Also, if you can't help me leave me a guess as to what color I have. If you guess correctly you gets a cookie.^^

Well, problem #1, you got a Flip.

 

What operating system? The software might have issues with the version of Windows you're running. Or, if you're using a 64 bit system, it might have conflicts with that.

I am running XP Pro. I got the flip because I needed a camera for a class and was in a huge hurry. It was the cheapest camera there.

And you might want to try checking out the FlipVideo support forums, if you haven't already. I think some other people have had similar issues.

Hmm, did you try using Windows Explorer to just copy the video files to your computer?

Yeah, tried that and it did not work properly.

Does it give any kind of error code or anything?

Some sort of error stating that if the error occurs again to call tech support. I like asking you guys over some guy I don't know. If I can't figure it out I might do so though.

I saw that they have a live chat support thing on their website, if you don't want to call them. It'll probably be some dude in India, though.

Yeah I don't have time at the moment. I actually have to go. Thanks Carson Coyote. I might be able to get some help from some professors tomorrow since I think that its the type of camera the school gets. If not I will try your suggestion.

EDIT: Try taking the battery out before you connect it to the computer. It seems like that helps some people when they have weird issues.

Thanks Carson Coyote. I will give an update if I figure it out. I tried the battery thing, I was hoping that would work but it did not. It was a good thought though.

UPDATE:

I figured out the problem and it was staring me in the face the entire time. My computer was not liking the MP4 format, so I got converter software and that did the trick. You guys can keep guessing on my camera color if you want though. Oh and if you know, please don't tell.^^

I needed it for a class and we had to make an emergency stop for a camera. We thought we had on and we did not. The only one they had was pink, so at the moment I own a pink camera. My sister might buy a neutral one and trade me for the pink one. It is rather funny though.
