DizzyCats 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 Well a new you with a new account. I'm not sure whats really different. Anyway. Welcome back. Maybe you should post a little more about how and why you got a new account. That's probably a topic for another thread. One that I have no intention to create any time soon. The short story is that I'm no longer a Christian and fell off the internet for a while out of shame. Well' date=' greetings. Saz 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 That's probably a topic for another thread. One that I have no intention to create any time soon. The short story is that I'm no longer a Christian and fell off the internet for a while out of shame. I know it sucks to talk about but if you ever do feel up to telling this, I would be interested in reading it. I always (for personal reasons - my will is weak) want to hear what it is that finally causes people to lose faith.
DizzyCats 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 The issue that set me off is that I don't feel I ever had genuine faith to begin with. I was just doing it because all the cool people did, as it were. Being raised in a conservative Christian family and going to church, religion came to be a protocol that was so ingrained within my life that I thought to question it until I started college, at which point I continued to live in denial. I don't think I "lost" my faith in a fundamental sense; I simply came to realize it never existed, and the facade which I called my religion was purely a construct of tradition and upbringing. Even so, I'm only very recently out of the closet. I kept holding onto this aethereal strand of hope that one day I'd have a shocking revelation and God would reveal himself to me. Needless to say, that didn't happen. Hence, I've decided that upholding a faith that is not genuine is ultimately destructive. Almost no one I know is aware of this development, either. Only the internet. I'm essentially living a lie for the purpose of not having to dishonour my parents. My sister decided she wasn't a Christian recently and my parents were absolutely devastated. I don't want them to have to deal with that sort of thing again. They're likely to find out eventually, but now is too soon.
yuumichi† 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 Sorry to hear that friend... In fact, I too have not the fortune of actually feeling a genuine faith with God. I'm struggling to be honest. But God also works in ways that no human being can totally understand, nor will ever understand. I pray that your parents will understand and respect your choice. I also hope dearly that you make peace between you and our Father. And if you are sad (no offense) don't hate yourself Dizzybro.... It's unhealthy and just makes bad things worse then what they really are.... *Yumm bows* Sorry bout that...anyway Konichiwa Dizzy, looking forward to being your friend. Jackal† 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 Dizzy Cat, I feel so bad for you! When people are forced into christianity, they don't often form a genuine relationship with God. They say that they have, but only because they were forced into doing so. My step-dad was married once before marrying my mother, and his ex-wife forced him to go to church. That's why they got a divorce, because he was tired of being told what to do when it came to his decision on religion. He met my mom, and she continued to go to church, but didn't make him go. He eventually came by his own decision, and HE chose to have a ralationship with God, not my mother or anyone else. That's what is important, to know when you are ready to actually have true faith in God, it's not anyone else's decision, not your parents, YOURS. I will definately be praying for you. God bless, and again, hope you have a great time on the CF I try to love everyone as God would, see them through his eyes. Don't forget that God loves you no matter what. In point of fact, I don't believe religion to be inherently wrong: I simply cannot bring myself to accept evidence for it as conclusive. I'd tried to believe and I can't do it. o.o wow im late! wel hey fellow feline Herro :
