HoboFawkes† 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 Nice to meet you! I think you're the second Floridian here. Chihuahuas were always too yappy for me, I like mellow dogs better. As long as you don't bark wildly, you're cool. ;P So, I'm one of the local spontaneous-and-wild people. We're here to talk, have fun, and whatever. If you need support, we're here for ya, too. Anything else: It is sad but I have not real come out of the “Fur closet” of the internet. If anyone could give me some support and tell me the way they told there friends/family about there life please PM me. <3 This is a pretty common problem. There's a nice little write-up here that you can show people and use to explain, if you'd like. Me? I just stopped my dad one day while we were moving boxes and spontaneously told him about it. As long as you approach it correctly, it's no big deal.
Trish Chihuahua† 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 Its nice to meet you to~! From my experience it depends on the way the Chihuahua is brought up (the loud noisy ones normally come from a breeder and the loving some-what-shy ones normally come from a family type setting) , but yes we are barky dogs in general. Dont worry though I'll be well tempered. ;3 I'm Glade I'm not so alone on my problem. Thank you for the link, I need it. "Approach it correctly" you say? I guess I'll make a list of ideas and go from there.

HoboFawkes† 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 The only thing to really watch out for is to make sure that you don't present it as something bad. Some people make the mistake of explaining it as they would a confession. There's nothing to be ashamed of being a furry, it's a personality trait. Just approach whoever you're telling as if you were telling them about your interest in painting, bowling, soup-throwing, whatever. From my experience thus far, I've had no bad reactions, just some confusion.

Looking back on it, all the stress I put myself through seams silly. I feel much better just letting myself be who I am. I wounder if that is the way I'll feel once I tell my friends?I pray that I just get confusion and not rejection. Thanks for the advise about explaining it like an interest . I think that if I write out what Im going to say things will go more smoothly. Thanks for the welcome MomCat <
