Sakiki† 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2011 seems like I don't have you pleased with me, and by no means am I trying to clam the best of anything but I don't see a daily bible study actually happening in here I don't see daily verses that are explained. I just thought adding something daily for inspiration could help those who want it. Yesterday our pastor read from Mathew 21:18 Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered. The story appears again Mark 11: 12-14 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." and his disciples heard him say it. Mark 11: 20 -21 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter remembered and said to Jesus, "Rabbi, Look! the fig tree you cursed has withered!" First of all God does not have Alzheimer's and tell the same stories over and over again for no good reason. God placed them in the bible because they are important for us to remember. This action Jesus gave was to send two messages the first one is the power of our God Jesus went on to say Mark 11 :22-23 "Have faith in God" Jesus answered "I tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, "Go throw yourself into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him." the other message is a little more home. I know that some of us state to be Christians much like the Fig tree did with all its green leaves. But when Jesus came to inspect the fruit of the Fig tree or inspect the fruit of ourselves he saw none. Jesus is inspecting us every day. Mark 4 Jesus spoke of a parable of a farmer who went to sow his seed. Some of the seed was scattered on the path and the birds gobbled them up some on the rocks were they burst into a great bud but having no roots the sun soon dried them up, then others into the weeds were they grew but the weeds eventually chocked the life out of them and some landed on good soil that produced fruit that is said to multiply thirty, sixty or even a hundred times! This is our story what path did you land on. did you land on the path were you hear the word but don't let it plant in your heart so the birds come and take the message away? Or are you on the rocks were you grow quickly and try to grow almost too fast but hard times come and quickly kill you off. Or did you grow with the weeds were your current actions of life that you lead are slowly choking you away from god. There is another story in the Bible I can not remember where it is and I'm sorry for that But there was a fruit tree in a vineyard the tree had green leaves but refused to bear fruit year after year. Finally the farmer was told to cut this tree down and plat other trees that would grow the fruit. What ended up happening is that they asked for another year and they would tend to this tree giving it fertilizer it and caring for it in hopes the next year it would produce fruit. This is a act of mercy. God has given me another year and is tending to me has he given you another year? Were are you today are you like the Fig tree with the green leaves and no fruit for our god? Are you a seed trying to grow on a path or the rocks or the weeds? If you bear no fruit for the lord eventually you will be cut down. I praise God for the mercy he has shown me for time after time he had inspected me and found no fruit I want him to see the fruit I can give him. Life is not all about what God can do for you but what you can do for God. When I first fell to my knees and begged him to come into my heart under that old window in my farm house. He was there they day I cried when I felt lonely at camp for I was always the one teased. He was there the day I felt Joy when I met friends at a vollunteer Program for a zoo. He smiled as he held my hands training me on how to train my dog. He cried when he saw my eyes start to grow clouded. He was saddend when he watched me fall from him he watched my heart crying but not comeing to him. He reminded me of him the day he helped me in College when I prayed to him that if he wanted to me continue collage that on that day he would provide me with parking and a college math book and he provided. He was there to take my hand and pick me up to take my burdens to throw them away. God was even there when I sang this very song in Church as a young child Loveing him with blind Faith and he is hear now as I feel the tears in my eyes. Reminding me of our lost relationship.
