The Lone Wolf† 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 So where do you stand peoples? Are noob tubing (The act of using rockets and RPGs for simple kills) and camping (sitting in one place and making the enemy come to you) legitimate tactics? My personal opinion is yes. If it's obviously not a bug, and it's in the game, then I think it's a legitimate tactic. If people can't take out "noob tubers" and "campers" with their own tactics then that is certainly not my problem My brother on the other hand thinks that in any Shoot-em-up style game, the only legitimate tactic is picking one class and running at your enemy and being the first one to shoot...it seems to me that that's just stupid I prefer to use one man army (In MW2) and sit and keep an eye out for the enemy and shoot them with sniper rifles and RPGs. I don't get kills as fast...but I sure die a lot less I just think people get mad when their tactic doesn't cover everything, so they blame the other players. So anyways...whatcha think? DizzyCats 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 People who complain about campers are lamers who are jealous of my k/d ratio. Unless there exists an objective for a team to accomplish wherein camping can contravene, in which case that's totally not cool. It's like people who complain about instant kills and zero-to-death combos in fighters (or edge-guarding in Super Smash Bros. games). Learn to play the game and stop complaining. Flechmen 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 I'm so bad at games I end up dying no matter what. With the exception of things like a certain AvP game where I can just cloak and use tracking weapons from a safe place or TF2 where I can go for a resilient class, go up somewhere high and shoot like mad. Anyway, campers are kinda annoying when you're not them but it is still a good tactic.
Flechmen 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 No, its not about sniping. Sniping is something totally different and actually offers a good challenge. Lone is talking about standing next to the spawn point with a rocket launcher and pulling the trigger on anything that moves. Then there's games like Wolf Team where I sniped someone with the starting machine gun... My friend: "That gun is really inaccurate, you'll never hit anything with it" /me looks at someone maybe 100 yards away *bang bang* Headshot My friend: "Holy cow" Also, Trackpoint mouse, superior pointing device
DeltaK9 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 I personally think camping is incredibly cheap, but it does have it's uses. And I'll admit to it being cheap, because I use it sometimes. XD Camping also isn't exactly next to a spawn point, in MW2, it's pretty much anywhere on the map. As long as you're sitting somewhere, and getting kills while doing it, you're camping. BTW Lone, do you play MW2 for PC or console?
The Lone Wolf† 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 Console for me but I don't play live (as of yet). I won't even go into details why other then parental control >_> I was mainly bringing it up because me and my brother play local multiplayer, sometimes with a friend or two, and he gets to the point of cussing me out just because I sit still and use RPGs and rocket launchers and occasionally my favorite...the Javelin. But recently I discovered that I can resupply ammo by using one man army and just switching to the same class over and over which means infinite RPGs...and I know that can be annoying but I don't see the "skill" as my brother calls it in charging eachother with P90s and seeing who gets killed first. My brother also insists on keeping the radar on all the time so we always know where the other is. I get accused of cheating and not playing the game right and of being a noob and all those other comments you hear from pwned shoot-em-up players, but I just find it incredibly funny to see someone running blindly at me and then getting pegged in the face with explosives designed to take out aircraft XP And I mean pegged in the face...I can actually get headshots with rocket launchers and RPGs sometimes. I am sure people would love me in Live XD Another cheap tactic I use (and I admit this one is cheap) is blowing myself up with C4 when I think someone is gonna get me... Carson Coyote† 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 Hahaha! I do all of those things when my brothers and I play the old N64 Goldeneye game!
The Lone Wolf† 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 Camping and Noob Tubing and especially both at the same time is for the win...and no one can tell me otherwise XP
Ansatsu Ra'Karth† 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2010 This is one of those situations that gives mixed opinions... This is the pure and honest truth, coming from a guy who has been gaming since 1986 and who's first shooter was the original Wolfenstein 3D. It is 100% legit, but the problem is, many gamers consider this as a cheap shot tactic many newbies use. In games like CoD4 the overall game mechanics have no avoidable methods to not get spawn killed via some random option that the game has jam packed into its code. The real question is, can you easily shrug off a million players calling you a newbie on a day to day basis for something like this. Again perfectly legit from a proper standpoint on the games overall mechanics. The only fear you have, if you can shrug off people calling you newbie, is either loss of credit for your username and a possible ban with certain hosts/servers. Example many PC servers for cod4 have using the grenade launcher (e.g. the Noob tube) as a bannable offense. Simply put, people will complain no matter what you do, doesn't matter if its using something like the RPG/M203 grenade launcher or simply getting 20 head shots in a row through sheer luck. Now, tbh I am not a fan of playing CoD series online, I prefer the single player side for that series but for multiplayer. I find the overall game mechanics is not my style, nor preference for an online shooter. I tend to play games that makes spawn camping, slightly less possible, example would be section 8, battlefield 2142, Battlefield 2, A.V.A, etc.
The Lone Wolf† 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2010 I can understand noob tubing the spawn points to be obnoxious. I am talking about 1 vs 1 local multiplayer with my brother. Maybe 2 vs 2 if we have friends over. I don't actually play online yet, and if I did it would probably be inefficient to take the time to load and fire high explosives with so many people around. So...seeing as my name is just "Player" in local multiplayer, my name is not something I worry about I am more referring to how my brother and his friends enjoy getting LMGs with FMJ on as well as ACOG scopes and just running around mowing people down, even through most walls because that seems to be what the LMG does in CoD:MW2 >_> It is times like this when I generally start to use grenade launchers from higher places because there is really very little other options when you don't have teammates that can come from behind your enemy. At least that's my opinion =P What you are referring to, Ansatsu, is what I would call "Fox guarding" where it becomes impossible for the opponent to do anything else but die. THAT I would call cheap...although I might still do it depending on what sort of people I am fighting XP
Ansatsu Ra'Karth† 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2010 What you are referring to' date=' Ansatsu, is what I would call "Fox guarding" where it becomes impossible for the opponent to do anything else but die. THAT I would call cheap...although I might still do it depending on what sort of people I am fighting XP[/color'] I tend to do this only when someone starts talking smack to me, at this point I don't care anymore about their insults, only their demise. If they think less of me for it I use a common phrase for this situation. I will state this phrase now, so please do not take offense to it as it is pretty common for me to say in games these days and seems to be quite accurate. Most players in games are the exact opposite of the gamers I prefer so you must take this into consideration. Either way, here is the phrase I use... "Sit down, shut up, and know your place!" Its quite effective and they dislike it a lot but whatever, its all true. I actually had to use that phrase yesterday in Global Agenda when one of the weaker players called us retarded, I gave him lip right back stating his damage was far too low for his class, he doesn't know how to play, etc, then he got reported and sent a warning.
