Dycie† 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) This is my first time making a clay sculpt for a resin head, or any kind of a fursuit head. It's for a reindeer character. Anyone with fursuit building experience? I could really use any suggestions anyone might have. Thank you! Edited November 26, 2013 by Dycie

Dycie† 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2013 Did that fix it? My apologies, the image showed for me when originally posting it so I assumed it worked.
Hybrilynx† 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2013 it works now. the reason why it showed for you is becuz it was in your browser cache and the purpose of that is to make things load faster by skipping over images it was just looking at.
koshi† 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2013 That looks really neat, I'm excited to see what'll look like with eyes and fur and antlers 'n such :
NightFell† 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2013 I build suits too! It looks awesome so far- I like the stylistic choices you made with this. I usually work with foam and balaclava, no resin yet so seeing stuff like this is totally inspirational (: Can't wait to see more!
She-King 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2013 I think it has character! Its a cute one, I must say. I think you're doing fine. I know a lot of people are legalistic when it comes to animal-species-accurate shapes and profiles, but I've also been told, "Its what works for you." So, since this is a toony mask, I think this works and its just fine. Too many people can be biased in the building community and even some of the professional builders have styles that aren't technically accurate for the species they build, lol, so who can tell you something doesn't look completely spot on? Keep it up can't wait to see more!
Dycie† 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2014 Sorry it's taken me so long to reply! Thank you all for your comments. She-King - I definitely wanted to go for a toony look since a realistic face just wouldn't match the personality of the character. I don't understand why people make such a big fuss about making fursuits or artwork in general completely accurate anyway. All I can think is, "It's a fandom full of bipedal talking animals and you're concerned about accuracy?" I just hope it looks more smiley when it's actually made and furred, because I'm having a hard time seeing that as it is. NightFell - I really want to make a foam and balaclava head. One of my concerns with the resin is if it's going to be too rigid. I want my fursuit soft and cuddly! But some friends bought the materials for doing a resin head and we're all learning together, so I'm doing it this way for now, especially because we're all going to be doing volunteering type stuff as a group at Christmas, so we'll want some uniformity. I might try doing a foam and balaclava of my actual fursona on the side, though...
