Carson Coyote† 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2011 My brother and I have been shopping around for an affordable pen tablet, and though we have a few in mind, I thought I'd ask you all for advice. So, anyone who owns a tablet: What kind do you have, and how do you like it? Thanks!
Fahn† 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2011 Wacom would be my best bet. The least expensive Bamboo Pen they have is $69, though I'm not sure how good it would be for GIMP or PhotoShop. I have an older model Bamboo FUN that I got for $99, but it isn't supported on Windows 7 and I can't find any driver updates for it on their site, so I'll have to upgrade to the new Bamboo Fun, which I believe is $199. Wacom has some of the more reliable products that are functional, attractive, and relatively inexpensive. Just make sure your version of Windows supports them first. I love my tablet, just can't use it anymore (its about 4 years old).
Guest Wolfin Report post Posted January 25, 2011 I have an original Bamboo which does work on 7; works nicely for what little I can draw. Fahn, Bamboo Fun's should work on Windows 7 as well, just grab the unified driver pack from here: http://www.wacom.com/downloads/driver-detail.php?id=220 /Robin

Carson Coyote† 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2011 Yeah, I would like a Wacom, but they tend to cost a lot. I have a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate that I'm thinking about using towards a tablet, so I'm looking on there. Right now, I found an old Wacom Graphire2 for $10+$5 shipping, and I'm trying to decide if I should get it...
Carson Coyote† 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2011 I decided to get that used Graphire2. I thought, "For $15, why not?" Plus, with my Amazon gift certificate, I got it for free (and still have about $10 left to spend on other stuff!). So, hopefully this will get me excited to draw again. Thank you all for your suggestions!
