MorningHaving been set free from sin, [you] have become slaves of righteousness.
“You cannot serve God and money.”—When you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? The end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.—Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.“If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.”—“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”“O LORD our God, other lords besides you have ruled over us, but your name alone we bring to remembrance.”—I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!Rom. 6:18; Matt. 6:24; Rom. 6:20-22; Rom. 10:4; John 12:26; Matt. 11:29, 30; Isa. 26:13; Ps. 119:32 (Read full verses...)
Evening“Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Manasseh . . . did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the despicable practices of the nations. . . . He erected altars for Baal. . . . And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. And he burned his son as an offering and used fortune-telling and omens and dealt with mediums and with wizards. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger.—And when he was in distress, he entreated the favor of the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. He prayed to him, and God was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea.“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”—The Lord is . . . patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish.Acts 2:21; 2 Kings 21:1-3, 5, 6; 2 Chron. 33:12, 13; Isa. 1:18; 2 Pet. 3:9 (Read full verses...)
