Blackstone† 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) "1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God," This part is fairly straightforward, Paul and his title "To God’s holy people in Ephesus,[a] the faithful in Christ Jesus:" Then to the whom, which is the Ephesus and faithful. "2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." Blessing and such, setting up his good wishes and such. "3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. " Now this is where Paul starts talking to them setting up and outline and reminding them of what has already been givin to them. "4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight." Paul talkes of our blessing and now Gods will for us. And he goes on.. "In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— " Again they why, caused he loved us, and the how, through Christ. "6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. " I find this part just a reiteration of Gods glory, and now saying the same thing twice, might be important. "7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace " Again a thred that has been woven from the begining of the bible is the blood. Which was a very serious thing in the Jewish culture. It shows up here again and even gives the why. Thank you Lord for Grace. ^^ "8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, " Again God shows us His love and gives us what we need through His perfect understanding and wisdom. "9 he[d] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ," For those He loves, His will is no secret. Now this is hard for some to understand, but remenber all is revealed in His timing in accordance to your spiritual maturity. The more mature the more you can understand. Always seek Him. " 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ." Again im His timing, for His glory. "11 In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, " Now here is where my understanding differs from others. I believe all have been predestined to be with Him. Its our choice if we want to be or not. "12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. " More of the why, His glory aman. "13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit," More of the how. And this is just pretty awesome in my book. "14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory." We were called, and asked to stay and help others find the light, and where given somethin as proof and reason to keep going for His kingdom. "15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people," More on how the Ephesians where, they were called faithful , now loving . "16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. " Paul appreciates this and praisis them more "17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[f] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. " This having recently had revelations, it is a game changer. Its a gift to receive such revelations and they can only come from God, and He gives them to those He loves .(more on this in mattew) "18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people," More on whats to come, and very noble to ask that we see it because it can feel like a long journey. "19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength" "20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, " There is no power greater than Gods. Jesus suffered and died and because of this is givin such a great honour. To be seated next to God. For those who stay strong threw it all. "21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. " Again pretty awesome our Savior has been given all for His sufderings and obedience to Gods will. Cause without it we wouldnt be able to be washed clean. "22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way." Just more wow here. We are the Body of Christ. And He has been givin all authority. For if God is for us , who can be against us?(rom 8:31. Good chapter on the Spirit) Now this is my take on this opening chapter of ephesians which gets into some pretty nitty gritty being Christ like how toos. Remeber to pray in the spirit(later mentioned in this book) and meditate on all things with God. For im human and i make mistakes but He knows all things. SuperKuddlor† 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2015 Oh God. Reading this just makes me feel guilty for all of my impurity. We?? Body of CHRIST??? Oh God.... How embarrassing it is to be that impure. I mean, yes, I fail, but.... It looks so awful! Yet, Father forgives and forgets, thanks to Jesus. This logic breaks any logic of vengeance. Wow. Speaking of which, I don't know why I feel guilty. If we are the Body of Christ, then why am I so faulty? Why am I so unhappy? I hope to find out if this book has an answer.
