Winter Jam

Recommended Posts

Heya everyone!! I actually just got home and I am stoked!! Now, this isn't Furry Fandom related, but it is uplifting in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

First off, if you've never heard of Winter Jam, I'll tell you right now.

Winter Jam is this huge roaming Christian Concert and faith service that goes through America, there is always 10 bands, and it's only $10 at the door to get in.
They always have huge names in Christian music, good people praying for you, it's family friendly, and you won't break bank(Unless you buy all the merch, lol.)

Every year the bands change, except for Newsong, who runs Winter Jam and is always there.

This year the bands there, in order from start to finish, were: Verida, About A Mile, Blanca(Originally from Group 1 Crew), For King And Country, (Newsong), Family Force 5, Building 429, Francesca Battistelli, Jeremy Camp, and Skillet.

If you haven't heard of any of them, look 'em up, I'm  sure you'll like at least one of them.

I have a quite a few friends that say listening to Rock music, or heavy metal music, or things like that will get you sent to Hell, and I saw a lot of people leaving when Skillet came on, but the message that they brought with them was brilliant. They tour with some of the biggest names in secular rock music, and they keep getting told, "Y'know if you'd just stop talking about Jesus, you could probably be the biggest name in Rock music" or "If you'd stop being so open about your faith.", or "If you'd stop going to Winter Jam.". But, they keep telling them, God is the only reason we're here, and we're not going to throw Him away, we're going to live our life and play our music to praise him... And rock out.

All of these bands have fantastic songs, some to headbang to, some just catchy ones to sing along with, my favorites are the ones that I can dance to.

I'm gonna give you some of the songs from these bands to listen to, not all of them, because some are newer bands that I've never heard of and I need to do some research.

Skillet said that we shouldn't be ashamed to call Jesus our "Hero", so here is Hero by Skillet:

For King And Country is a relatively new band (last 3-4 years) from Australia, and this is Fine Fine Life:

Building 429 is one my absolute favorites, and I wholeheartedly suggest you look up more of their music. However this is "Made For You":

Family Force 5 is one I just found out about and they bring back the 80's in some of their songs(and their wardrobe). Here's "Let It Be Love"

I also suggest (Crank it like a) Chainsaw, and if you can find the dance moves to that one, more power to ya!

For those that prefer sweeter songs, more of the Love Song To God type of music Francesca Battistelli has a lot of good ones like that. Here's "He Knows My Name"

That's all for now, I totally suggest that you look up some more of these guys, and some of the ones I didn't share a song of.
Stay awesome my friends, the theme of tonight was I Choose Jesus Before Me. <3

Ive been a Skillet fan since their album Hey You I Love your Soul (Yes I just aged myself), I miss there older stuff. Alien Youth by far is my favorite album. I went to winter jam several years ago when Disciple was playing.

Not that old, lol.  My friend actually introduced me to Skillet, and I first saw them at Winter Jam 3 or 4 years ago. I haven't seen Disciple, but I really like their "Dear X (You Don't Own Me)".

SKILLET!!!!!!! Skillet is my all time favorite band! I got to see them in concert once about two years ago and it was the most amazing thing ever! I listen to them everyday and they help keep me on the right path. If listening to rock and metal is bad then I'm Hell-bound as it gets *cough cough sarcasm* I love both mainstream and Christian rock and metal. Some of my favorite Christian bands are Skillet, We As Human, Wolves at the Gate, Demon Hunter, Kutless, Red, and the list goes on.

I was curious enough to dig through my cd collection and found Skillets debut album with the hit song Gasoline on it. They debuted in 1996. That got me thinking, there are people on this forum who are younger than Skillet...

Disciple was good, haven't paid to much attention to their new stuff since there style changed. Horseshoes and Hand Grenades is a great album.
