Daily Light for July 19

Recommended Posts

Morning

“He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.”

“Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?”—There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours.—“Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy.”—“Hallowed be your name.”

“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people.”

Who is this who comes from Edom, in crimsoned garments from Bozrah, he who is splendid in his apparel, marching in the greatness of his strength? “It is I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save.”—“I have granted help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.”

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory.

Luke 1:49; Ex. 15:11; Ps. 86:8; Rev. 15:4; Matt. 6:9; Luke 1:68; Isa. 63:1; Ps. 89:19; Eph. 3:20, 21 (Read full verses...)

Evening

The dew of Hermon.

Mount Sirion (that is, Hermon).—There the LORD has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.—I will be like the dew to Israel; he shall blossom like the lily; he shall take root like the trees of Lebanon.

“May my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew, like gentle rain upon the tender grass, and like showers upon the herb.”—“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

[God] gives the Spirit without measure.—And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.—It is like the precious oil on the head . . . on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes!

Ps. 133:3; Deut. 4:48; Ps. 133:3; Hos. 14:5; Deut. 32:2; Isa. 55:10, 11; John 3:34; John 1:16; Ps. 133:2 (Read full verses...)
