Post-o-Matic 3.16† 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2009 Morning “You are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.” “Please let the power of the Lord be great as you have promised, saying, ‘The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’” Do not remember against us our former iniquities; let your compassion come speedily to meet us. . . . Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us, and atone for our sins, for your name's sake!—“Though our iniquities testify against us, act, O LORD, for your name's sake; for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against you.” . . . We acknowledge our wickedness, O LORD, and the iniquity of our fathers, for we have sinned against you. If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. Jonah 4:2; Num. 14:17, 18; Ps. 79:8, 9; Jer. 14:7, 20; Ps. 130:3, 4 (Read full verses...) Evening Sanctification by the Spirit. Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden, let its spices flow. For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment!—(for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.”—God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace. In a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. 2 Thess. 2:13; Song 4:16; 2 Cor. 7:11; Eph. 5:9, 10; John 14:16; Rom. 5:5; Gal. 5:22; 2 Cor. 8:2; 1 Cor. 12:11 (Read full verses...) << Jul 16 | Jul 17 | Jul 18 >> Excerpted from Daily Light on the Daily Path ©2002 Crossway Books, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers.
