Morning

Keep a close watch on yourself.

Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.—Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.—For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.—Practice these things, devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress.

1 Tim. 4:16; 1 Cor. 9:25-27; Eph. 6:11, 12; Gal. 5:24, 25; Rom. 8:14; 1 Tim. 4:15 (Read full verses...)

Evening

Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.”—“To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.”

“Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.”

But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his.”—We have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God.

“You shall take two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel. . . . And Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD on his two shoulders for remembrance. . . . You shall make a breastpiece of judgment. . . . You shall set in it four rows of stones. . . . There shall be twelve stones with their names according to the names of the sons of Israel. . . . They shall be on Aaron's heart, when he goes in before the LORD.
