Daily Light for April 14

Recommended Posts

Morning

My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night.

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.—How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!—Your love is better than wine.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.—You are the most handsome of the sons of men; grace is poured upon your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.

As an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. With great delight I sat in his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste, he brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.—His appearance is like Lebanon, choice as the cedars. His mouth is most sweet, and he is altogether desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend.

Evening

Restore to me the joy of your salvation.

I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners.—“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”—“Return, O faithless sons; I will heal your faithlessness.” “Behold, we come to you, for you are the LORD our God.”—Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases.—He restores my soul.—“I will give thanks to you, O LORD, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me.”

Hold me up, that I may be safe.—“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.”
