  1. Thanks! I can't wait to get some replies to the points that I raised :3
  2. Hi there! First of all, I would like to stress very strongly that I didn't come here to cause any trouble. I am simply very curious and in my opinion the only true way to achieve peace is to actually try to understand each other. Albert Einstein said this long ago: "Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding,". This is essentially why I am here. I want to understand you guys and I want you to try to understand my own position. You see, I am a skeptic. I am also an atheist but atheism isn't something that defines me. Atheism in itself is just a neutral position, the position not to believe claims that haven't met their burden of proof. This is actually where my skepticism comes into play. I personally simply can't believe in any sort of gods, souls, ghosts, spirits or demons. Personally I simply don't see a shred of evidence that supports these claims. Sure, there is the bible. But in my opinion that is simply a book. If it does have devine origins you first have to prove that these devine origins actually exist. Because if you don't do that all you are doing is trying to prove that god exists by using what god said which in turn creates a logical circle, a very common logical fallicy. If you want to prove something you have to do that in two steps: First you have to define what you are trying to prove. Because if you don't do that I have no idea what you are talking about which renders your evidence (if you have any) completely useless. Secondly you have to provide solid evidence that isn't based on any logical fallicies (logical circles and the argumentum ad ignorantiam being the most common that I have encountered so far). Evidence is especially important. Because if you don't have evidence, how do you know that what you believe is true? The evidence is what enables you to believe. Belief is not a choice afterall! But enough about my opinions. The main thing that I want to know is why do YOU believe? What enables you to believe? What evidence do you have to justify your beliefs? I also have some other topics I would like to know more about, like your opinions on evolution, abiogenesis and homosexuality. But let's see where this thread goes first^^ [undefined=undefined](But please, of you do want to add something to these topics, be my guest! :3)[/undefined]
