Daily Light for January 15

Recommended Posts

Morning

My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word!

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For . . . your life is hidden with Christ in God.—But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.—So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.—Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.

Ps. 119:25; Col. 3:1-3; Phil. 3:20, 21; Gal. 5:17; Rom. 8:12, 13; 1 Pet. 2:11 (Read full verses...)

Evening

The measure of faith.

As for the one who is weak in faith . . . —But he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God.—“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”—“Great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.”

“Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” “According to your faith be it done to you.”

“Increase our faith!”—But you, beloved, build yourselves up in your most holy faith.—Rooted and built up in him and established in the faith.—And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ.—And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace . . . will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.—Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.
